The greenspace at the southern end of Broomhill Avenue was almost sold for development in 2007 as Glasgow City Council was not aware that people valued it. A campaign by the local community showed the Council that this was not the case and as a result it was saved for the community. Members of the community group wanted to ensure that the greenspace would be kept for community use in the future and saw an opportunity to improve the space as a community park. The Friends of Group was formed to allow us to work with Glasgow City Council to improve the greenspace and help transform it from a plain grassed area into a more wildlife friendly area. We hope that local children will be able to enjoy the space as a safe place to play with a range of plants and wildlife.
